MPFD Handles Working Structure Fire

At approximately 2:30pm, the Miller Place Fire Department was activated for a reported structure fire at 29 Wabil Rd. Upon the arrival of Assistant Chief's Schroeter and Markott, the Signal 35 was transmitted for a working fire. The Chief's were given reports of possible occupants within. It was quickly determined that there was only one occupant and he was removed. MPFD Engine 1 was the first due engine and was instructed to hit the hydrant and stretch (2) 1 3/4" lines to the fire building. Initial attack line crews were met with heavy fire load at the front door and gained a quick knockdown of the fire. Miller Place FD was assisted by Rocky Point FD, Coram FD, and Mount Sinai FD. The fire was referred to Brookhaven Town FIre Marshal's Office and SCPD Arson.
Units were under the command of Asst. Chief Schroeter.
