Chief Vincent Tunkel joined the  Lynbrook Fire Department right out of high school in 1979. Vinny contributed to his company in many ways, serving on many company and department commitees. In "86" he was elected to 2nd Lieutenant of Hose Company #1 and rose through the ranks. Vinny was elected to serve as Captain from 1990-1992.  He served The LFD for 16 years before eventually moving to Miller Place. Vinny was elected into Honorary Membership of Hose Company #1 of the LFD. Chief Tunkel was sworn into the Miller Place Fire Department in the summer of 1995. In 1998 he was elected to 2nd Lieutenant of Engine Company and rose through the ranks serving as it's Captian from 2000-2001. Chief Tunkel had the honor of being elected to 3rd Assistat Chief in 2003 and now serves as the 1st Assistant Chief.
