Chief Markott began his career with the Miller Place Fire Department at the age of 14 in the Junior Company. He went on to serve as Lieutenant and well as Captain of the Engine Company. Chief Markott is very involved in the community having served on both the Miller Place School Board and the Miller Place Civic Association Board of Directors. Chief Markott owns Gio's Restaurant & Pizzeria (www.giosny.com) with locations in Miller Place and Coram. He is a graduate of Hofstra University and in 2007 at the age of 27 was elected as the youngest Assistant Chief in the Miller Place Fire Department History.
