The Miller Place Fire Department first opened its doors in 1952. Ever since then the department has been one of the cores of the Miller Place Community. The year 2010 sees the department headed up by Chief of Department Vinny Tunkel. Responding to over 1,000 calls each year, the volunteers of the MPFD are on call 24/7 365 days a year.
